This year’s post-game concert was performed by the Ying Yang Twins! The concert started at 6 p.m., right after the football game. The Langston Lions won with a final score of 51-20. The performance was held in the stadium parking lot where students and alumni tailgated. This made it very accessible for students, alumni, and other guests to get a front row seat to watch and enjoy the concert. The crowd went wild when the twins sang their hit songs “Wait (The Whisper Song)” and “Whistle while you twurk!”
Porche Allah, an alumni student who has not been to Langston’s homecoming in over 5 years said, “The performance was really good. It reminded me of when I was student here. The Ying Yang Twins were pretty big my freshman and sophomore year, so it reminded me of being back on campus as a student!” When asked what could’ve been better, Porche said, “More alumni! By the time the performance came a lot of the alumni left already, so it would’ve been nice to see more alumni there during the performance to make it more fun.”
In addition, Chantelle Allah, Porche’s sister said, “The best of the performance was just all the memories it brought back, it just reminded me of when I was a student and all the parties we used to have at the club multi… it brought me right back to those same times and reminded me of the good ole’ days.” Chantelle went on to say, “I think that it would have been nice if more people from my generation had stuck around to see the performance, a lot of folks my age had left by the time the performance started. Maybe, it would be nice to have performers that appeal to the demographics of the students that are on campus now.”
Overall, the concert was a great time to be had and a feeling of community and family was surely felt by those who attended that night.
