Legendary Models, founded by Langston alumna Tania Danielle, is getting prepared for this upcoming semester. Legendary Models held a Bootcamp on September 6th and 8th.
Legendary Models started off being called Elite Models when they were originally founded back in 2021. This organization has been walking local runways and doing events on campus with other organizations like LU Essence. They train young men and women on how to be confident in their skin and the ways of walking a runway.
Destiny Hardaway and Jerimiah Tyrece work as Mr. and Ms. Black and White for this 23-24 school year. This is the first bootcamp to be hosted by Legendary Models and they want this event to be a helpful and a fun experience for the students who will be coming out.
Mr. And Ms. Black and White said they are extremely excited about this year, claiming this bootcamp will be a stepping stool to the places they are trying to go and the things they want to do.
Tyrece explained, “The students will be taught how to walk as if they were a model and will be taught a couple moves while they are modeling.” Students will be watched and helped by the royal court of Legendary Models on how to walk, spin and show their personality off while modeling.
With the bootcamp being two days, the students have a chance to learn before they are put on that audition stage in front of the royal court of Legendary Models.
Tyrece said, “We just want to make sure that any event or any show that we do needs to be our best at literally everything so yea.”
Auditions for legendary models were held September 13th for all students interested. Students wondered what they will gain from the experience of Legendary models or if there would be any discrimination towards the way they look, Hardaway said “It helped me build confidence, it helped me with my peer count, and it just helped me get more involved on campus, networking even outside of Legendary Models…We accept people of all shapes, colors and sizes, and everybody is Black and Beautiful.”
Students cheered on each other as they all walked in front of the royal court and took the critiques from them as well. Even some of the students who stopped or messed up were encouraged to continue. Most students were saying that initially coming in they were nervous but, by the end they felt confident and more prepared for the audition process.
The Legendary Models royal court will be letting the students who are interested know if they made it in or not. Tyrece stated, “I believe it will be a day or two after auditions if not. The next week after.” Hardaway said, “Bring your confidence, bring your talents, bring your heels and just be yourself and show us what you got!”
